Evolving With Technology:
How My Career, Mindset & Teaching Style Are Leveling Up

Technology has always been a part of my world, but I never imagined just how quickly it would become the backbone of every professional move, creative idea, and even my own personal reinvention. From my earliest days in administrative roles, intake coordination, and customer service at a major communications company, tech was always my silent partner, sometimes a challenge, sometimes a secret weapon. But the landscape keeps shifting, and every step forward no matter how small, has completely rewritten my beliefs about what’s possible for myself and others.

The truth is, every breakthrough in skill breeds a breakthrough in confidence. On a journey to mastering tools like Microsoft 365 and navigating emerging platforms, now with the rapid growth of AI-powered

assistants and digital workspaces, hasn’t just improved my work; it’s changed the way I approach challenges, communication, and collaboration. The more I evolve, the more doors open: communication gets sharper, ideas come to life faster, and teamwork is no longer limited by the old boundaries.

This isn’t just about learning software. It’s about adopting a mindset that says: “I might not know this yet, but I will.” The world is moving faster than ever, and I’m determined to stay at the wheel, not just ride along as a passenger. My extensive experience in administration where you wear many hats and switch gears on

demand taught me the value of adaptability. Today, those same skills are vital as new technology pushes the boundaries of what we can do in HR, Operations, Training, Recruiting, and beyond.

I’m especially passionate about merging hands-on, visual learning with these new digital tools. People no longer learn just by sitting in a classroom with a notepad and pen. The line between physical and digital education is blurring. I see my own “inner teacher” emerging, guiding others in ways that make new tools and platforms accessible, practical, and even enjoyable.

I love the fields of administration, HR, and training & development because they’re about connecting people with the right opportunities and giving teams the confidence to thrive. Being the go-to person who can change hats at a moment’s notice isn’t just a job skill; it’s a mindset, and one that AI-powered tools are now taking to the next level.

What’s next? I’m diving deeper...taking new courses, exploring emerging tech, and growing my own portfolio in the areas that truly inspire me. My aim is to build this site and blog as a place to document the ongoing journey: skill-building, setbacks, breakthroughs, and all. I want to share what I learn, reflect on the process, and encourage anyone who feels stuck or behind. No matter how complicated the landscape gets, it’s never too late to start, to master, or to pivot.

If you’re reading this, you’ll see more about my projects, the new tools I’m experimenting with, and how technology is transforming not just my career, but also my creativity and approach to work. Whether you’re a lifelong learner, a self-doubter, or just searching for practical inspiration, you’re in the right place.

Stay tuned...I'm evolving.

Course Completed:
Implement the Scrum Framework

I've successfully completed the Implement the Scrum Framework certification through Google and Coursera, strengthening my ability to operate in modern, fast-paced, and evolving work environments. This certification goes beyond theory, it equips me with practical skills in Agile thinking, cross functional collaboration and delivering value in iterative cycles, which are increasingly critical in today's organizations.

From an administrative assistant lens, this is a strategic advantage. Administrative roles are no longer just about coordination and task execution. They are evolving into operational support functions that drive efficiency, enable teams and reduce bottlenecks. Understanding Scrum allows me to support workflows more intelligently, anticipate team needs, improve communication across stakeholders and contribute to project outcomes rather than just supporting them.

Most importantly, this is about future proof. Organizations are shifting toward Agile, digital transformation and continuous improvement models. By aligning with these frameworks early, I'm positioning myself not just as support staff, but as a high value operational partner who can adapt, optimize and grow with the direction modern workplaces are heading.

Indigenous Cultural Safety,  Cultural Humility &  Anti Racism Learning Program

I’m happy to share that I’ve obtained a new certification: Nutsamaht-Nch'u'7mut - Indigenous Cultural Safety, Cultural Humility & Anti Racism Learning Program from BCCNM!

Proud to have completed the Nutsamaht-Nch'u'7mut – Indigenous Cultural Safety, Cultural Humility & Anti-Racism Learning Program at BCCNM.

This isn’t just another micro-credential for me, this is about facing the real history that most of us were never told the truth about. Growing up, so much was sanitized, glossed over, or completely masked. The real stories...the injustice, the trauma, and the extraordinary strength of Indigenous communities were missing from our classrooms and conversations.

Now, I see it as a privilege and a responsibility to expand my outlook, get honest about the past, and champion a future that acknowledges and repairs these wrongs. The parallels between Indigenous worldviews and my own Sikh heritage are striking: deep respect for spirituality, the earth, and all living things; the duty to protect what is sacred, stand up for the vulnerable, and honor the land as a living relative, not just a resource.

This work isn’t optional, it’s essential for anyone who wants to lead, support, or even call themselves an ally in Canada today. True cultural humility means continually unlearning old assumptions and listening to those who’ve been silenced the longest. We all have a duty to show up, to be honest, and to make decisions with the realities of the most vulnerable in mind. No more hiding behind “not knowing.” We owe it to our Indigenous neighbors, our own values, and future generations to do better starting with ourselves.

SAN'YAS

I’m happy to share that I’ve obtained a new certification: SAN'YAS: Indigenous Cultural Safety Training from CORE ICS Health - Provincial Health Services Authority !

I’m grateful to share that I’ve completed the San’yas Indigenous Cultural Safety Training through the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) September 2020.

I want to be clear about why this matters to me and why it should matter to all of us working in healthcare, regulation, policy, or leadership.
This isn’t a badge to post or a certificate to show off. It’s a reminder of the real people and communities whose lives are affected by the decisions we make every day, especially those who are most vulnerable.

San’yas isn’t about theory. It’s about understanding how colonial systems have shaped inequitable access to care, health outcomes, and trust in health services. It’s about recognizing that the legacy of colonialism hasn’t been left in the past, it still determines who gets timely, compassionate care, and who faces barriers due to race, heritage, income, geography, or lived experience.

This training challenged me to reflect deeply:

Who are we designing systems for?
Who is excluded, and why?

How do we interrupt bias, privilege, and structural inequities in our work?

What I learned reinforces something I’ve learned over time through lived experience and cultural reflection that every community deserves equal access to health, dignity, and respect, regardless of social status, culture, religion, or history.

To me, the heart of this work isn’t the certificate. It’s the alignment with community truths, the ongoing commitment to listen before we act, and the responsibility to center those voices in every decision we make, from small process improvements to major policy direction.

Our systems shouldn’t just be functional they should be just. And that starts with each of us becoming more informed, more accountable, and more willing to do the work not for recognition, but for real and lasting impact.

To others who’ve done San’yas or are considering it: this training is not the finish line. It’s one step in the long work of cultural safety, accountability, and equity in health and human services.
